Quote from " Island Free Press"

Locally caught shrimp are second only to blue crab in value to North Carolina fishermen. About 9.5 million pounds of shrimp were caught in the Tar Heel State during the 2019 fishing season, for worth $21.9 million. The majority of shrimp are caught by commercial shrimp trawls in rivers and sounds, but in recent years, ocean landings have increased by as much as 250%.

Thank God for Miss Gina’s in Beaufort, NC. The best locally caught fresh shrimp for $5 a pound.

“You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it ... there is shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried ... there is pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich ... that’s about it.“
