I may be moving down to North Carolina in a few months. Found this sight and it looked really good. Im looking forward to get some advice for this new style fishing and hope that I can add to your already helpful forum.

Welcome to the forum

Anytime I hear of a Yankee coming down here to STAY, reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw back in the mid 80s
In Cary NC. Which also is an acronym (Containment Area For Relocated Yankees)

It Said, " I Don't Care How You Did it Up North"

With name like Gunner tells me you are not a big Fan of Mario Cumo, so you should fit in just fine.

Welcome Aboard , you'll love the South , drink Sweet Tea , Don't put anything other than salt pepper butter or cheese in your Grits.

When you go out for Pizza and the sign says "New York Pizza" it's not, Just live with it , I have .

So settle in, explore the the beaches and piers , see how it's done because it's not the same as up north and enjoy

Welcome Gunner. You picked a good place - on the way to the OBX and SOBX. Have fun.

If I can say one thing, when in Rome do as the Romans. The bumper sticker 2na speaks of is not just a saying. If it is done differently down here, esp fishing, there is usually a reason. Read the bible ( the thread at the bottom of the P&S main page). use the search button and ask quality questions.

Welcome. No sugar in grits but I do sugar in oatmeal. But I also do Chocolate pudding over biscuits. Some call them chocolate gravy and biscuits but we always called them pudden & biscuits. Don't know if anyone else eats that but I am from the mountains of NC. Welcome.

And before he asks " what reel to buy " I'm starting the argument with the first 3.

Saltist

Saltist

Saltist.

I can't vouche for rods. Mine all suck.

Welcome to the sight. Ur screwed now! If u were a diehard angler there you are gonna be consumed by this part of the seaboard. It's in another league. And the guys on here that fish these areas are the baddest dudes on the planet. I used to think walleye fishing was hype. Surf fishing and it's methods blow away all that. Gets expensive.....hope the new job has overtime and u let the ole lady buy a new purse when u get a new reel...

Thanks fellas for sounding out----It wont be very hard to getting use to a new location(it was 12 degrees two days ago!!!) My ice fishing this year was not that good. I guess that's why they call it fishing and hunting and not i'm going "catching". I have a 14ft deepV boat---for sure not taking it out in the stuff---but should it be ok for parts of the Cape Fear River system of some land-lock lakes/ponds you folks have?? Any info much apprieciated. Gunner

Never plan to catch........ Fishing itself is worth the price of admission

Never heard of the pudding and biscuits......How bout some cane syrup mixed with sour cream and dip your buttermilk biscuits in the mixture? I finally met one person about a month ago who says he grew up doing this......that's some mighty fine eating right there.
