Went out today (thurs) with a hopkins, 50# mono leader, and 30 # powerpro. Nice west wind for the last day plus, so it has calmed down some and the seaweed has settled down to the bottom. Caught 3 blues this afternoon, biggest about 3 # and got 2 wind knots in the powerpro that had to be cut out. Not as big as the blues we got at night. Lots of spinner sharks out farther than I can cast.

I asked a local tackle shop owner about distinguishing spinners from black-tips, and he just said a spinner spins! If you land a shark and don't know which of these 2 it is, he said it is probably a blacktip. Said he has hooked 50 or more spinners but never landed one, only blacktips. Guess that is true unless you have lots of wire or heavy leader (like 30 feet of it!)
