What are some of the biggest fish/rays/sharks y'all have caught on 17 lb test? I run17 lb suffix on my drum/shark rig, just curious to see what are some of the bigger catches out there on this same lb test line.
Great catch, Sufix Tritanium is my line of choice of course now days have to order it from the UK.42 lb 47 "Striper off of South Point Ocock She was tasty.
Luckily grounded a 7 ft bar shark off cape Point without snapping in about 6 " of water
Suffix is the right choice.
Have landed 200-225 diamond rays [the ones with no tails]on 20 lb. tritanium as well.
Why? it is all over the placenow days have to order it from the UK.
Probably likes the gold version... All you can get in US as far as I know is chartreuse..Why? it is all over the place
I am speaking of Tritanium not Tritanium Plus. Why? it is all over the place

Good to know that a 7-8 footer is attainable with 17 lb test line. Exactly what I wanted to hear. What was your buddy bowed up on in the background of the pic with the garbo? Both of those were caught on an Akios 656 SCM....it should be right at 300 yds +- of the Suffix Tri+ on that reel.
The Sandbar was 7' the garbo was scratching 8', both very different fights.
Yep its definitely doable with the right tackle. They were hooked up with more sharks.....they are thick in Hatteras right now.Good to know that a 7-8 footer is attainable with 17 lb test line.
