I know you guys get big Red Drum in the Outerbanks surf during Spring/Fall;but where do you catch them during the Summer. Is there any good shorebound spots in the sounds where I can hook up with some big Red Drum during the summer
It can be done from the shore in the summer, have heard of a few caught that way,but it is a long shot.. Spots like this are very hard to find. You can catch pups and yrlings, and possible "longshot" biggun,if you find the right spot though..Look for flats about 2 to 4 ft deep, that are edged by deeper water with broken bottom(grass vs sand) look for slicks on the top, made by the drum, look for pelicans and bait, sometimes a dead give away..
