Your blank is the exact mandrel copy of the Fenwick Big Surfstick from the 1980's.

The original designer of the Fenwick Rod went to All Star after Fenwick and All Star made a few 1386 Blanks after old folks like myself asked for them, originals had an E-Glass tip.

It was a Drum rod back in the day, we cut the tips anywhere from three to twelve inches depending on the targeted sinker weight of 6 to 10 ounces.

I have a butt from one of these rods, to replace an original SurfStick butt that was broken.

Thanks for the info garboman.. the one i have has a graphite but and graphite/glass blend top section. In your opinion am i pricing this blank appropriately..
Original SurfStick had a graphite butt and E-Glass tip either in Honey and in the later versions all black.

It was state of the art in 1985.

My opinion on value would be predicated on what blanks cost at the time, in 1985 the blank was $90, which is probably like $400 in today's dollars, there was no better drum rod made on earth at the time so they were somewhat precious. You could get a built rod for around $200. I remember paying an entire weeks salary of a OBX carpenter for one built rod back in the 1980's.

The value is that they are no longer making the SS1386 blank anywhere, whether someone will pay $250 would depend on the purchaser.

If I did not have four of the originals, I would be a candidate. Being older I have a preference for the originals. I still cast one from time to time.

At the end of Drum season, WRI rods which are pretty nice and bit more advanced in blank technology go for $300-$350 built, so if there is no response from active buyers you have to take that into consideration.
