Been fishing the surf on Hatteras Island for 20 years now but have never tried the sound. Won’t have a boat so it’ll have to be from the shore or close to it. Any advice on what to target and what with in the summer months. Any other tips would be appreciated.

You want fish to where the wind is in your face.

Trout, Drum and Bluefish will be around.

Wear stout heeled shoes, there are a lot of Stingrays laying around.

A lot of the areas on Hatteras get covered up with wind and kite surfers.

Bring a cast net and a bait bucket and fish live bait under a popping cork.

Fish the 1st hour of Daylight and the last hour of Sunlight.
