The marshy Hope Creek had slush ice on it yesterday morning. I could get my jig to go through slush ice in some areas. I set the jig about 6 or 7 feet under a weighted bobber and the few perch I caught were out in the middle/ channel of the river. Had to cast a long way, that's why I need the weighted bobber. It got pretty warm yesterday, and didn't get to cold last night, so the river might be clear of ice. I think the marina might still have some ice. Feels strange to post and not have fish to show. Maybe this morning I will catch enough fish for a picture. The yellow perch are slowly moving up the river in my opinion and should be pretty good fishing soon. Pretty warm week coming up.

Question for my forum brothers who chase yellow perch. Do you think yellow perch come into Rock Hall in numbers? I ask cuz we caught 2 really nice 1s in September on our last trip. Just wondering if it's worth 2hr drive or do I stay close to home and chase them in PA

I'm sure there are some somewhere in that area. Maybe in Chester Town around the bridge, or in a marina. They do move up the rivers this time of year. I don't think you will load up with yellow perch, but you might catch a few. I thought I was going to do good this morning, but I was wrong. Still some ice around. I only caught four yellow perch. Three too small and one good one. I threw them all back. Good Luck! Hope someone can put you on them.

They are a lot closer to you than Rock Hall. I caught probably 3 dozen or so today.

Yes, the marina I told you about. If I send an email, I will give you a heads up on here. I stopped by Herb's yesterday and picked up a couple of hundred #6 jig hooks and poured up a hundred 1/64 and a hundred 1/32 darts today. Still have to paint and dress them but that will probably be a cold/windy day session. Actually, I have found that I can pour the 1/32 dart with a #4 hook. I can even pour a 1/32 round head with up to a #1 hook I use the small heads with the larger hooks a lot when drop shotting for yellow perch in the winter. I am going to write up a short article on how to drop shot for the YP and post it on the blog on my web site. Don't know if you checked the blog when you were on there, but I have three articles that I wrote several years ago about spring and summer fishing on the Susquehanna.

Andy, from a pier where you use to catch them many years ago.
