I'll finally be able to fish around the 3rd week of march this year. I've fished the VB area most of my life, but haven't thought to fish it this early. Considering the warm winter, will there be anything biting in the surf? I know people in the OBX have snagged a few puppy drum. This trip would be me mostly going out and enjoying being on the water again. I'd probably fish around Rudee. If nothing's biting, I'll head inland and try for blue cats.

I guess there could be blues, stripers, specks or pups at Rudee. This weekend I tried Bennett's Creek and Sleepy Hole with not a nibble...the water is still cold. Haven't seen any schools of bait...just a couple random splashes per outing.

Hopefully by the 3rd week we'll be into warmer weather more consistently, and you very well may have a decent chance at having something pull on your line. Looks like this current cold snap is going to last until the 20th or so.
