First time fishing there.

Great day weather wise.

Caught alot of skates and about 4 either sand or sand bar sharks.

Know that I have seen both pic's on the net, can't remember the number of dorsal fins.

Are either one good eating? How do you prepare? What are the legal lenght for these fish?

Even got a double hit on my hi-low rig. Skate on one hook and a Sand shark on the other.

Got to try out my new Tica rod and reel. Really nice. Sweet.

No Stripers - but I had a lot of FUN.:)

At least you were out there...

Orest,

Good report! Glad to see you out there. Hopefully, I will get out and take advantage of the mild weather we are having.

You got a conventional setup right? What reel did you go with?

Nope spinning. I still like to get a conv. outfit.

Got the TICA Dolphin SE 10000 and the TICA 12 ' 4-10 oz. rod.

Really nice setup. The reel has a longer spool, for longer casting.
It's really smooth.

I really enjoy getting out. Maybe next weekend I'll try some where closer to OC. Just don't know exactly where to go down there.

Having fun.

AI South Parking lot...

You can fish AI near the South Parking lot and walk over the dunes to the ocean. As it is not in the ORV area, you do not need a ORV permit.

Thanks.

Long walk or short?

Since I have never been to AI is the South Parking Lot labeled?

Any bait shops on the way down from OC?

Shaggy can help you there...

Last time I fished there I had to pay a fee but that was during the Summer months...might not be a fee now..

Short walk from the parking lot over the dunes..If you don't have a cart it would take two trips (rods/tubes/bait/gear/chair/food) unless you pack real light and carry it in.

Shaggy would know about the fees this time of year...

Always fees, I believe $5 daily, ten for a weekend pass. Now that it is year end, time for me to get a new season pass.

Have Jeep will travel. :D
