Just wanted to share the beginning of a new fish wrap on an older rod.

The flexcoat had turned yellow on the 1023 so I decided to update it with a new updated wrap and aftcote rod finsih instead of flexcoat.
The guides as of now are still attached but they will be removed next and replaced with new titanium single foot fujis.

Can you find the eye?

Valuable lesson learned.

Well, the fish wrap went to crap on me.

After consulting a couple rod guru's from these boards I learned a valuable lesson that I wanted to pass on. Painters tape does not hold thread!

I let the wrap sit afew days since I had to work and the cold weather in the garage couple with the poor tackyness of the painters tape let my wrap release tension.

Here's what I had before it happened.

Needless to say, I couldn't pull the threads tight again as there were just to many loops up and down the wrap and the mettallic caused the most trouble as it is thread wrapped with mylar that helped in the slippage.

So I'll restart it again later.
