what is that fish on the very top? i've caught them before at Point lookout and they are always sorta small and i have no idea what species. and they don't look like anything in the Fishing guide booklet.

Its not croaker, its not red drum, and its not sea bass. what is it??? and its not trout?

also if anybody knows, theres these fish at Point lookout that swim at the surface near the lights, and they have tiny trumpet mouths that are very long and slender. Looks like a needle. with a fish head and a eel body. can't find that in the fishing guidebook either... man they need some updates...

Fish at the top is a kingfish, aka roundhead, aka whiting, aka sea mullet (has a bunch of names). To be more specific I think that one was a southern kingfish. They taste great. Check this link out for more info: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/cwcs/pdf/Kingfish.pdf

As for the other fish swimming near the lights, they are probably ribbonfish. Do they look like this? http://www.pierandsurf.com/fishing-forum/album.php?albumid=279&attachmentid=7891

Can catch them on a gotcha plug. They make decent cut bait.

Ohhh kingfish, i see now. Yea i've been catching a good amount of them lately. I've never seen em before. No the fish swimming near the lights aren't ribbon fish, these fish i see have really long mouths. Like 3-4 inches long and it literally looks like a needle. And the body isn't as flat as a ribbon fish. Its more round like an eel.
