    Bbnwr 7-8-2019

Hit BB yesterday after work. Got there around 5 and managed a blue and two Spanish before a storm ran me back to my car. I went back down after it stopped raining, the wind had picked up and so had the surf. After going back down it was one 10-12" blue after another with the occasional Spanish. It was all catch and release and I took off around 7:30.

Back on the 3rd I really got into the Spanish like I never have before, bet I caught 30+ in an hour and a half. Kept a few for Dad to smoke. The guys fishing next to me were fishing single hooks on their lures and they must have smashed the barb because they had released, hooked and reeled in another before I could get mine off the hook. So I switched some of mine out to singles and smashed the barb.... It worked great and I will probably stick to it.

Have you ever seen them this thick around here? Best year I've seen for Spanish.

Most of us are throwing lead minnow lures in the 1-2 oz range. Stingsilvers or similar work the best. Pink/white, gold or silver are popular colors. Sun up and sun down are best times to try.

They are feeding on glassminnows so you want something as close to them as possible. I think a silver strip on the lure helps a lot.
