Heading up for our yearly surf fishing trip on Thursday. At the last minute, the only one of our group with a 4x4 backed out and left us scrambling. It seems like we may have two options-rent a 4x4 for a few days (expensive) or hit spots where we can park and walk. I've done pretty well around the jetties and used to do well around Frisco pier before it shallowed up. I'm guessing there are some other spots that may work. We are normally kayaking some baits out for cobia and fishing the usual small stuff for pomps, mullet, etc. Anyone have any advice? Suck it up and pay for a rental or go on foot? Best rental place? Thanks.
That's probably what we will do. Wasn't sure about rentals though. Don't need 4x4 for pulling boat, hauling stuff where I live so I've held off on buying one.
I went ahead and rented a 4x4. We'll be the folks with the big "rental" sign on the side of the SUV, but I guess that beats being the folks hauling a dozen rods, a kayak, and a big cooler up the beach looking for fishy water.
