Fellows,
Kind of new to surf fishing and wanting some info on drum fishing around Emerald Isle. I'll be down for a week the last week of Sept. Are there any drum in the surf at that time. I've heard they are a blast to catch and fairly large. I fished EI last year and didnt see any drum but I also didnt know as much as I know now. Any info or tips on what kind of rig/bait and how far out to throw would be great

drums are plentiful that time of year. Buy some 40lb leader material and a circle hook with a strong swivel. Put a sinker slide on your line with the rig you made.
put a piece of cut mullet on the hook and your set:fishing:

Barring any Hurricanes, the last week of Sept should have lots of Drum in the surf. The surf will also be full of finger mullet. FULL! Use a cast net and catch finger mullet for free. This is what the DRUM will be eating at that time of year.
