Drove out latter than normal start from San Antonio. Always wanting to leave before 7:00, but didn't get going until 9:30. Made a stop at Nick's new shop location before noon and headed south for some fishing. Arrived on PINS after 1 PM. A lot of RV's and Spring Breakers before the 4X4 sign. We decided to try the 20's but the weed was too bad. Started heading to the 30's until we spotted a good area to fish. Water was getting greener in areas the further south we drove. Driving wasn't smooth but manageable. First cast out with my 10'6 and BAM a Pompano, photo shoot and put in the ice chest for the ride home.http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5027/dscn25332hk7.jpg10'6 second cast out and another Pomp to keep the other one company in the ice chest.http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9162/dscn2534yw6.jpgAs I cast out the third time I was visualizing another Pomp and the excitement got to me with a HUGE BIRD NEST. I had some work to do to get that untangled. I definitely took my focus off my casting technique. It all was a great day on the beach with the family and the kids saying, "This is the best spring break ever."

Gave it a go this morning. The wind eventually did what it was supposed to do and blew down the waves then calmed, but unfortunately it did it about 12 hours later than it was supposed to. The morning was rough, with brown water further than you could cast and a very high tide on the south end that had the dead weed floating around in the wade gut.

Around noon the water started to clear, but even then, we had trouble catching anything other than whiting and bonnet heads. Left the beach around 5:00 and the north end was looking pretty good. Sunday might be okay, but be ready for a slack high tide all day.... There were long lines of spring breakers at the traffic lights on the way out.
