A place in the Outer Banks somewhere where you can drive out on the beach and fish all night, maybe even a small camp fire to cook up some fish. Planning a trip next week and trying to find out exactly where you can do that. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't really matter, wherever I can drive on the beach and catch some fish.

Anywhere S of Pea Island you can drive(minding temporary closures) and as long as the fire is below the high tide line is OK. But someone must be actively fishing or tickets will be given if you are asleep.

Don't forget to air down. 20lbs in each tire and if ya go out on ramp 38 might need to go down lower, mighty soft sand on 38:)

Big L, You are right on about ramp 38. Been going down to Hatteras for 11 years and finally hit 38 in June. I am from Delaware and am used to soft sand compaired to Hatteras beaches. But man south of 38 you have to stay high on the beach next to the grass. Usally air down to about 20lb. But at ramp 38 you have to go down to at least 15lbs. That area must be the softest beach on the whole island.

Nick, Ocracoke island is also a great place. You have to take the FREE ferry over to get there but it is real nice there. If you go take the beach access right before you get to Howards Pub reasturant. I think it's ramp 72. The sand road go's back a while then you come to the beach, take a right and go to the southern point of Ocracoke.

Good Luck,

Ron

Don't forget that the Cape Point area will be closed at night for a while longer...

Good luck and tight lines.

Thanks for all the information. I need to get a map of NC now to see where all these places are, been awhile since I've been down that way.

The folks at Tradewinds Tackle on s end of island can help ya with the hotspots.. This time of yr pompano,pups,flounder,bluefish,spainish..
South end is closed due to birds, last I heard, but there can be good holes all up and down the island, especially for pomps.. Tradewinds Tackle also has a board where you can get current pics and info..
