Travel restrictions into the northern beaches are lifted: https://www.darenc.com/news/newsid.asp?recid=1012
I talked to a friend this morning who said fishing conditions were "very difficult" at best but should improve over the next couple of days. We had reservations starting Sunday and are waiting confirmation from the realtor that our vacation house is okay. There are still areas without power and many homes were damaged. Our thoughts and prayers go out for everyone who lives there, we know first hand what it's like dealing with a disaster like this.

Well i called my watering hole away from home, The Red Drum, and they are gutting the place and closed until further notice =(. most of the hotels from MP3 down to MP 11 seem to be closed all is well. so i am not going to be making the trip. Kinda sucks, but i know its nothing compared to what you all are going through. i consider the OBX my home away from home as we visit multiple times a year. and i will continue to pray and think of all you during this stressful time!! OBX STRONG FOLKS!

I just drove past Red Drum on my way to Tortuga's 10 minutes ago. They got it bad--there's furniture all over the front drying out. Totally flooded.

We have been on Carova since the storm almost at the fence. Saturday around 4 PM: "Oh it'll be fine. Little wind and rain and it'll miss us."

2 am Sunday morning: "I have made a terrible mistake..."

Spoke to them at Red Drum and they said their not closed. Said they had some water that ruined their coolers and they have to clean up but their not closed.

Are you guys confusing Red Drum Taphouse and Red Drum Tackle? Saw a pic from Surfin Spoon facing RDT and it didn't look good for them..

I'm almost positive they're referring to Red Drum Taphouse SeaPA. I heard they got flooded pretty bad.

Yeah appears so. FB page says they're closed. They'll bounce back and hopefully i'll be down soon to help support the cause.

The coast is in our thoughts and prayers. Given how quiet this forum has been, the members have their hands full. We have a group heading to Salvo middle of next week. Any word on conditions in that area?

Any word on conditions in that area? don't know anything about the conditions but I do know they are allowing visitors south of Oregon Inlet starting at 7am tomorrow. I've seen a lot of rough pictures from down there.

According to Dare County EM on twitter they posted this morning the following: "Visitors will be allowed access to the Villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon and Buxton beginning 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct 13." Weather showing Lower to Mid 70's highs the next 6 days so hopefully things will dry out. Prayers go out to everyone on Hatteras and Ocracoke.

I was referring to the Taphouse, not the tackle shop. Anyway, lots of businesses along that strip are a total shitshow. It's pretty today but best to call ahead for anyone traveling anywhere near the coast. Not sure about the situation further south but a few of the locals I talked to today said it's really bad over Oregon Inlet. Every person I talked who was down here talked about how much worse it was than anyone suspected. One of the staff at Tortugas Lie said his roommate has an anemometer on a weather station that clocked in at 90 mph.

Also, I'm really enjoying all the local signs crapping all over my namesake: at BootyTreats it says "No booty for you, Matthew", several churches saying "All are welcome, except Matthew" etc. I'm starting to take it personally.

Drove by the Red Drum Tap House this afternoon, sad to say they are still closed. We fished Little Bridge this morning and this evening, caught several nice trout and quite a few puppy drum.

We were lucky, only because of the storm before which EVERYONE UNDERESTEMATED! We took ALL precautions this time, tying everything down, and moving all vehicles to high ground.. I am VERY GLAD we did so.. If not we would have lost everything,as this storm was 4 inches higher than Emily in Frisco....

On the upside there are plenty of puppy drum out there. Most are below slot but at least something's biting.

Caught several puppy drum today and a limit of nice size trout. I tried a little surf fishing this evening only to find that a 3 oz. sinker wasn't heavy enough. Most shops and restaurants seem to be open. Tomorrow's forecast calls for the wind to pick up some but hopefully still fishable.
