Sheepshead Fishing, These Fish Could Use A Dentist Part II

This is a short part two to the entry I posted yesterday. I just couldn't resist.

Sheepshead Fishing, These Fish Could Use A Dentist Part II

Last week I posted an entry about sheepshead fishing and their highly specialized teeth which are used to crush barnacles, mollusks, crabs, crustaceans and the like.

Well I thought you might like to get an close up sort of a dental x-ray view of a not so battle worn sheepshead sporting a full set of incisors and molars.

Like I’ve said before in previous entries, these fish must surely be something out of a dental hygienist’s nightmare.

Although I have to admit, the above fish has teeth so white, it looks like it brushes, uses whitener, and maybe even flosses with shrimp antennae.

Hey guys, I'll tell you, I swear by those Gami Octopus Circle hooks for sheepies and mangrove snapper now. I've been using them exclusively now for about two years and my hook up to bait thieving ratio has improved dramatically.

Try them out. I think you'll like them as well. They give you the advantage of both jerk set of a J-hook and a Circle hook's design for hooking themselves.

So you do jerk it as if you were using a typical j-hook? I can see it working with those as they are offset and when I use them I still end up gut hooking an occasional fish.
