Close to wilmington offers good salt and fresh water fishing. Recent rain might have rivers high for fresh water fishing. Salt water options include piers, surf, and boat. Fish species this time of year are wide open. good luck - glenn

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit on a beach and drink beer all day.

Lots of good places , depends on wind, moonphase, barometric pressure, water temp, tides, time of year, fishing pressure. That's what I learned. Good luck, flounder, reds slot and yearlings in the surf and inside, trout early morning bite on quality fish up to 26", blacktips, ladyfish, pompano, stripers, spanish in 35-40 ft., some trips in the river, some poon on the shoals, BSB ARS HNS Grouper Mahi Kings offshore, lots of small jack crevalle inside up to 4 lbs. or so with some bigs in the river mouth, plenty of blues to 2-3 lbs busting bait in the surf last weekend, hope this helps.

Fished from the Carlione pier, but only caught croakers (5 inches or smaller) and pin fish. I seen 2 nice size spots caught and a lot of ladyfish caught. Noone was really catching any keeps.
