I read a lot but seldom post. Thought some may find this interesting. This guy swam by the bait on my heaver and nailed the bait on my bait rod (about 30' out). I had to give up a lot of drag, let the fish run to the point, cross back and forth a couple times, and then wait on about fifteen waves to help him in. Second photo is the #4 hook on the River Rig beside one of my normal drum rigs. Thanks River. Thanks also to Jeff (who took photo).
Looks like if the drum don't like the gap you have in the hooks, they will adapt the hook to fit their lip.
Good job not losing the fish to s straightened hook.
